My Godfather Died

CROCKETT, Douglas Eugene

Douglas (Snowball) Eugene Crockett, 55, of Curve Road in Pearisburg, died Thursday morning, April 1, 2004 at his home in the loving care of his family. Born in Pearisburg on March 17, 1949 he was a son of the late Walter George and Maggie Sue Epling Crockett. For over twenty-five years he had operated Doug's Auto Repair near his home on Curve Road, accommodating his friends as he made a living. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter George Crockett II and David Kent Crockett. He leaves to cherish his memory the "queens" of his home, his wife Rhonda Stafford Crockett and his daughter Amanda Hope Crockett, of the home; three brothers, Jimmy Carroll Crockett, John Wayne Crockett, and Roger Lee Crockett, all of Pearisburg; two sisters, Mary Caudil Crockett and Pamely Sue Crockett, both of Pearisburg; his friends who he thought of as sisters, Dana Reed of Christiansburg and "Beth Ann" Gann of Floyd, who were always there when he needed them and many other wonderful friends, nieces and nephews. The family offers a special thanks to Carilion Hospice for their love and support, especially Nancy Valett. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
